Many People do not know what does the 'B' stand for in Police number plates.
South African Police Services is the national police force in South Africa. The SAPS has more than 1000 police stations which are divided according to the provincial borders, and a Provincial Commissioner is chosen in each of these provinces. These commissioners report to the National Commissioner.
South African number plates are unique in each of the nine provinces, each province has their own design of the number plate and colours, as well as numbering scheme. All vehicles in Mzansi are supposed to have a number plate on the front and back of the vehicle.
Every police car in South Africa has the same number plate that ends withe letter 'B' that is because police vehicles are not identified with the number plate where they are from. They are identified with the logos of the province and they have a writing which says which town they operate in.
For example, in KwaZulu-Natal, police cars are written Umlazi on the rear and have the Coat of Arms logo on the number plate.
