 Some politicians' nicknames that will make you laugh. Sometimes a person's given name is insufficient. They're either too horrible, too good, too strange, or their moniker is too amusing. Here are some of them:


Despite the intensity that sometimes characterizes our politics, there is a level of humour that helps to relieve it. Politicians have a variety of amusing ways of addressing one another.

General Mosquito 

Asiedu Nketia, the opposition NDC's General Secretary, is undoubtedly one of Ghana's most fascinating politicians. Because of his diminutive height and caustic comments during interviews, he is known as General Mosquito.

Opana

During the campaign for last election, then-President John Mahama carved a political name for his opponent, Nana Akufo-Addo, and referred to him by that name multiple times, ostensibly to hide his identity, although it was evident who this "Opana" was.

Commissioner General 

When Ghana's ex-president, John Mahama, went on a project-commissioning binge a few months before the general election, he earned the nickname "Commissioner General."

Alan Cash 

Alan Kyeremateng, the businessman and politician is regarded as one of Ghana's wealthiest citizens, and is appropriately dubbed "Alan Cash" to reflect his wealth.

Mr. Comfortable Lead

Koku Anyidoho, the NDC's deputy general secretary, is famous for declaring that the party was in a "comfortable lead." When it turned out that the lead wasn't that comfortable after all, the words became a household insult.

Jack where are you?

H.E. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, who served as Vice President, was widely mocked for his frequent absences from public life, prompting Ghanaians to inquire about his whereabouts.

Adwumawura

Adwumawura, as Paa Kwesi Nduom is known, is a job generator. He got the moniker by starting a slew of businesses in Ghana and internationally on his own.

Gentle Jack 

John Agyekum Kuffour, Ghana's former president, earned this moniker due to his sluggish but strong demeanor.

Chairman Wontumi 

Chairman Wontumi was born in the Ashanti area on May 1, 1976, as Bernard Antwi Bosiako. Chairman Wontumi has established himself as a maverick and wealthy politician in Ghana, as well as a staunch supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Because of his strength in the party and how he became unopposed and indisputable in the Ashanti Region Chairmanship seat, he was given the moniker "Wontumi."
