There are 36 states in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is important to point out that Nigeria is divided into six geopolitical zones. It should also be said that we have three geopolitical zones in the northern part of Nigeria. The northern region is made up of the North West, North East and the North Central. Below are three northern states that usually produce over one million votes during presidential elections.
1. Katsina State
This is one of the largest states in the northern part of Nigeria.

elections. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission,
Muhammadu Buhari recorded a total of 1,345,441 votes during the 2015
presidential election. The All Progressives Congress also recorded
1,232,133 votes during the 2019 presidential election. This means that
Katsina state has produced more than one million votes during the last
two presidential elections.
2. Kano State
